Top five season finish within Barbour’s reach in Sydney
Thursday 4th December 2014
With a top five series finish well within his grasp, Elliot is looking to ensure his consistent top ten race form can return on the streets of Sydney Olympic Park this weekend. With a busy schedule throughout the year that has included regular testing and ongoing development, the team are focussed on delivering the benefits of that from the outset on Friday.
“Going into this weekend, I am placing a heavy focus on securing a top five finish in the Championship. It would be a great way to cap off what has been a successful season in the Just Car Insurance Racing Holden V8 Ute. We have achieved some great results during the year, on the back of some hard work in testing and development of the car, so it will be a great achievement for the team as a whole,” Barbour said.
In the break since the last round on the Gold Coast, Barbour took the opportunity to visit America, in particular Las Vegas as a guest of one his partners, Tapout Energy drink, at the NASCAR and Stadium Super Trucks. With a vision to expand his racing career internationally into the future, it provided a strong foundation to build partnerships to move forward.
“It was an incredible experience to be part of the Tapout Energy crew in America at the NASCAR and Stadium Super Trucks. The atmosphere over there is incredible and just to spectate, let alone potentially compete in the future, was an amazing experience. I can’t thank the Tapout team enough for giving me the opportunity and I definitely look forward to getting back over there again soon,” Barbour added.
Following a year that has been highlighted with numerous top five results and a handful of race wins, Elliot will be aiming to continue his strong affiliation with street circuits this weekend. With very few points separating the Victorian and a top five Championship finish, the Just Car Insurance Racing pilot is preparing to build the foundation for a strong claim for outright Championship glory next season.
“I really enjoy street circuits, we have achieved some great results throughout the year on the ‘concrete jungles’ and I’ll certainly be aiming to replicate that this weekend. Sydney is a great place to finish the season and I’m looking forward to enjoying the weekend with the team as we build towards an even bigger year in 2015,” Barbour concluded.
Round eight of the 2014 Australian V8 Ute Racing Series – fuelled by Hogs Breath Café will take place as part of the Sydney NRMA 500, Homebush, NSW from 5-7 December.
