Success just perfect at Sandown
Just Car Insurance Racing has tasted sweet success at Sandown for Round 5 of the 2014 V8 Ute Racing Series.A tough start to the weekend was the only set back for Just Car Insurance Racing's, Elliot Barbour, as he put together three strong races over a very competitive Sandown event.
After qualifying fourteenth in a red flag effected session, Elliot had the car speed to take it to the front once the three race format got under way.
'It was a tough qualifying session that was for sure, that red flag came out at just the wrong time, we worked ourselves into some clear air and then the flag came out.' Just Car Insurance driver, Elliot Barbour.
Race one saw the #57 Holden get off to a cracking start and from there a calculated effort gave Elliot a strong five place gain and a ninth place finishing position.
The reverse grid flip would see Elliot start off the front row, a close start dropped Elliot back to third by the end of the first lap. But in a brilliant move at Dandenong corner, he slipped by into second place, just before the safety car was deployed to rescue a stranded car.
Once the safety car went in, the race was on at the front and on the penultimate lap Elliot went deep and around the outside of leader Jeremy Gray, taking the lead and driving on to his first win in V8 Ute Racing.
'That was awesome, to make those moves, to have great speed and ultimately win my first Ute race... Happy days, I hope there is more to come!'
The final race saw Barbour race hard once again, battling with series leaders Kris Walton and Nathan Pretty, he held his own bringing the Just Car Insurance Racing Ute home in fourth position for the race and fourth position for the round.
The Just Car Insurance Racing Team has now moved to sixth in the series standing with the next round seeing the series head to Bathurst in three weeks time.'I am pumped to get to Bathurst, we are now extracting good speed out of the blue rocket so I am looking forward to seeing what we can achieve at the Mountain.'
