'Barbs' plans to shine in the top end
Monday 16th June 2014
Just Car Insurance Racing's Elliot Barbour is planning on big things as the Australian V8 Ute Series heads north to Darwin's Hidden Valley this weekend.
Following a solid start to the year, the 2013 rookie sits 8th in the series standings and now sees Darwin as his chance to stamp some authority on his title charge.
'It has been a good start to the year, the team have been encouraging me to be consistent and finish races, whilst learning how to extract speed out of the Just Car Insurance Holden.
I feel I am on top of it and it's now time for me to put my foot down and step up!
I like Hidden Valley raceway, we had a strong run their last year, so I am eyeing off a podium result for sure.' Elliot Barbour.
Barbour has definitely matured since joining the Murphy Holden outfit, he has been driving the Just Car Insurance Ute to perfection and ticking all the boxes every step of the way.
'We chose Elliot for the Just Car Insurance Racing drive as he has all the attributes of being a future champion. He has impressed the team from day one and importantly does what we ask of him, so we couldn't be happier. So for Darwin, we will be giving him a little reward, by releasing the shackles as there is no doubt we have been tough on him. Now it's time for us to let him go for it.' Team manager, David Murphy.
Barbour's raw speed is what earned him the 2013 V8 Ute Series 'Rookie of the Year' title, so watch this space as the Just Car Insurance racer is primed for podium action.
The Utes hit the track for practice this Friday, with qualifying and three races over the weekend. Make sure you watch the Just Car Insurance Ute shine in the top end.
