Solid Perth Result for Barbour
Round 2 of the Australian V8 Ute Series took place at Perth’s Barbagallo raceway on the weekend.
Just Car Insurance Racing’s, Elliot Barbour again did a solid job confirming his place as a series contender.
The weekend started with two practice sessions with the former series rookie of the year placing in the top five.
Qualifying saw the Just Car Insurance Ute make it to the top ten shoot out which was a great effort considering there were five Fords in the top five.
‘I am stoked with that result, I am still new to the driving style required for the Holden to get it to qualify in the top ten, so it was a great feeling.’
Perth’s short track meant it was tight for racing, the #57 had some tough battles, banking an 8th position in race one and another solid 8th position in race 2.
The final race was all about tyre strategy, with a hectic start. You could throw a blanket over the top 12 cars. Barbour made some moves and had some serious tussles greeting the chequered flag in 9th position.
‘That was tough, we were all carrying the same pace, you would make a move, then someone would make a move on you. We were a little quicker than the cars ahead, but Barbagallo is so hard to make a move.’
The result sees the Just Car Insurance Ute move in to 8th position in the championship, also putting Barbour into series contention.
‘I am learning as we go and pleased with consistent top tens, but with a few more laps under my belt in the #57 Just Car Insurance Holden we will be moving further towards the front.’
The series now heads to Darwin’s Hidden Valley Raceway on June 20 -22.
